The last weekend The Hot Shots played on The Lumberjacks
Cup, a big field tournament organized by Lumberjacks Rohrdorf in Germany. On
Saturday, we played in the group phase against TV Augsburg (German
Regionalliga), against Wieselburger Oilers (fun team from Switzerland) and
Freunde d. gepflegten Ballsports (fun team from Switzerland).
Unfortunately, we have lost all 3 games and placed on the
last place in the group, meaning we have qualified only for the placement
matches for 5th to 8th place.
On Sunday, we started our day with a game against
the home team, Lumberjacks Rohrdorf, which placed on the third place in their
group. With a good, tactical performance we have won the game 3:1, advancing to
the game for 5th place. There we had our chance for revenge against the team
from Augsburg. The game ended 2:2 in the regular time, so the winner had to be
determinated in penalty shots. There we showed "stronger nerves" and
finished the revenge for the group phase game, taking home the 5th place, which
is the best result Hot Shots ever achieved on Lumberjacks Cup. We were able to
accomplish that despite playing with a very small roster of only 8 players and
2 goalies, so hats off to goalies Max and Stefan and players Fabi, Dani, Vera,
Miro, Alberto and 3 players from our befriended team from Gargazon - Jonas,
Patrick and Leopold. Great result!
The tournament have won the team of Freunde
d. g. Ballsports, before Knulla Floorball (a fun team from Switzerland) and Wieselburger Oilers.
